About Me

My photo
Honolulu, Hawaii, United States
Welcome to ArtWork by Yvonne Manipon. I completed an MA in Arts Administration at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Oregon, where I majored in Fine and Applied Arts and Art History. Currently, I live and work in Honolulu, Hawaii as an Artist in Residence for the Honolulu Museum Art School. Over the past 12 years, I have lived in both Hawaii and the Pacific NW where I have been painting landscapes, investigating the unique quality of light, textures, movement and atmosphere in each region. All of my paintings are created on location “en plein air”. Painting outdoors is invigorating and challenging, I enjoy the solitude, sounds, sites, fragrance, and drama of the outdoors. I am driven by the challenge of capturing directly onto canvas the essence of what inspires me.   Influences: Gustave Courbet, Eugene Delacroix, Pierre Bonnard, Lucian Freud, Emily Carr, Claude Monet, John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, Franz Bischoff, Edgar Payne and William Wendt and the California Impressionists.

Oregon Coast Paint Out!

My first Oregon Coast Paint out. Here are paintings and pics from the event July 16-27.  "North Yachats Beach", "Yachats River" and "Newport Harbor Workboats" - plus friends at the paint out.
Created this (Matisse inspired) design for my friends food truck in Eugene.

Lavender Farm Paintings

It has been awhile since I last posted images of my paintings. This series of paintings are from submissions to the Annual Lavender Festival Painting Contest in Yamhill County. Two other artist friends of mine (Patti McNutt and Paul Bourgault), carpooled to 6 different Lavender farms between McKenzie River and Yamhill.  These are the 3 paintings I submitted. It was a fun time and Patti won Honorable Mention!
